This work was created as part of the teaching program of the Painting VI course. During the course the author of the final thesis agreed on a free topic with the head of the course, professor and mentor Nina Ivančić. The series of paintings titled "Dreaming" (I-VII) consists of seven works that resulted from a multi-year process of writing down dreams. The author started doing this in high school and the proces continued to this day for a little over a decade. Writing down of dreams helps in introspective understanding of ourselves, i.e. our subconscious (S. Freud, C. Jung and the psychology of the unconscious). After a certain period of tracking dreams the author noticed that certain motifs and situations repeat themselves. This goes even for the same places and situations that were previously dreamed. In the hope of a better understanding of her dreams, the author began to single out motifs expressed through symbols that are repeated in dreams (defined as archetypes in psychology), and are part of the collective (sub)consciousness. These recurring symbols are placed as central figure in the pictures - they are the motif around which the story is built. The story is told through colors and symbols, and by emphasizing certain colors as well as duality (strong color contrast; uniformly colored field/"wild" drawing with pastels...) which is present in most of the pictures, an effort is made to further emphasize the emotion experienced in the dream.
